Lead Me to the Cross Loop
Alright, I was searching through some old stuff, and realized that me and a good friend of mine, Matt Monson, had created a loop for Hillsong United’s “Lead Me to the Cross”. At that time, we didn’t have anyone dedicated to either acoustic guitar or keys.
So, the loop includes acoustic, pads, shaker, and tambourine. When we’ve used it live, it has always filled the song out quite nicely. Sequences like these are nice because everyone can essentially stop playing to let the song breathe, and the sequence carries it very gracefully.
The tempo is at 72 BPM and the key is A. If you happen to have Ableton Live (which I recommend all of you get!), you can easily transpose this if you’d like to do so.
Alright – here it is:
Hope it helps someone out!

Awesome loop for one of my new faves – any way you could post the Reason or Live file?
i second that.. i would love to have a rns file of this… mainly to see how you pulled off the acoustic
Hey guys — thanks for your interest. I actually used a combination of both Reason and Ableton to make this. Quite honestly, the only thing I used Reason for was for the tambourines and the shaker. The rest, I recorded straight into Ableton live – ie, the pad and the acoustic.
If you want the Ableton file plus the Reason file, I’d be happy to oblige. Or, if it would suit anyone any better, I could record all of the tracks into an Ableton file and rock it out that way.
Just let me know – I’d be happy to do either one…its just that I think you would find that Reason file to be a bit disappointing as it only has tamb and shaker…hehe…
Or, if anyone would like it, I could also upload the acoustic track as an MP3.
Hey Matt! im loving your blog! Im brazillian and recently i started to use some vst’s + midi keyboard on stage worship at church. I loved the patch that you used to create this loop.
Can you tell me the setup for this patch? or can you send me this patch? im having problems to find good pads to use live. Can you help me?
Thanks! God bless you!
hey! i love your blog. and i was wondering if you can email me the albelton project file for lead me to the cross. i’m not sure yet if you put the project file on here, so i’m going to look, but if you didn’t, could you?
and thanks ahead of time.
