Reason Tutorial Video – How to Export to Ableton Live
This is in response to a question I received earlier. Hopefully this answers the posed question of “how do I get a Reason project into Ableton Live?” Let me know if this helps!

Good basic explanation. However, I didn’t understand your logic for not warping the clip. Since you already know the BPM, you should be able to set the warping quite easily. This is invaluable if you ever need to alter the tempo (which inevitably happens at some point).
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
Haha…yeah, I realized the failure in my reasoning as soon as I said it…so, I plead to everyone, please disregard that part. I think I had a bad experience with the warping feature once, so I’ve just made a habit of turning it off. I’m going to go ahead and edit that out, now that I think about it…thanks for bringing that to my attention. Haha…like I said, I just woke up.
I would say that Warping is arguably one of Live’s best features.
No worries. I’m not a Live expert (yet), so I thought I was missing something.
So I guess if I leave these comments up, I’ll look like a big idiot.
Sounds good. Stay they will.
Hey Matt,
I’m using Reason heavily, plus a guitar, and I’m looking to combine reason tracks with a guitar, and at times with the Korg Microsampler to manipulate between verses and choruses etc. My search has lead me to Ableton Live and this blog.
The problem is I don’t know how to get to the point where I can thoroughly play something live, while playing a guitar and comfortably using the microsampler, which plays samples and also acts as USB midi.
I’m new to this whole thing but want to get going right away. What approach will work live? Thanks,
John
The only way that I have seen it work smoothly is by using a foot controller (like the FCB1010 or Roland FC-300). I’ve tried to use a keyboard based controller while playing guitar and it is pretty difficult. Do-able…but difficult.
